Herman Bavinck

Herman Bavinck was a Dutch Reformed theologian and churchman, widely regarded as one of the most important Reformed dogmaticians since Calvin. He studied at both the conservative Theological School in Kampen and the more liberal University of Leiden, giving him a rare fluency in both confessional orthodoxy and modern scholarship.

He taught dogmatic theology at Kampen and later succeeded Abraham Kuyper at the Free University of Amsterdam, while also serving in Dutch politics and education reform. His four-volume Reformed Dogmatics remains a standard reference work in Reformed systematic theology.
